MOBO nominations for JLS and Alexandra Burke

X Factor stars JLS and Alexandra Burke will go head to head once more - in the best UK newcomer category at this year’s Mobo awards. The two acts were in the final showdown of last year’s X Factor, with Burke’s soul ful voice beating heartthrobs JLS to the prize.

Festival flag ban at Glastonbury?

Glastonbury festival chief Michael Eavis is considering banning flags from the Somerset site following the announcement that they will be banned from the Reading and Leeds Festivals this year.

Reading and Leeds Festival 2009

The Reading and Leeds Festivals kick off this weekend (28-30 August).

Headlining the festivals are Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead but then there’s Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy, Bloc Party, Placebo, Maximo Park, Yeah Yeah Yeahs…the list goes on and on… There is really something for everyone. Looks to be an amazing weekend for everyone!

Snow Patrol and Keane cover Oasis as Gallaghers miss V Festival

Chelmsford’s makeshift headliners happy to fill in ‘for best crowd ever’

Snow Patrol covered Oasis on the final night (August 23) of V Festival 2009 at Chelmsford, after they had to fill in as headliners for the illness-stricken band.

Gary Lightbody’s men topped the bill after Liam Gallagher caught viral laryngitis.

To make-up for their absence, the group covered ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’ acoustically during their encore, with frontman Lightbody declaring: “The mighty Oasis should be here tonight!” and telling the crowd not to boo them
